<p>Hello Mastodon, my name is Rob. I&#39;m a relatively normal person but with a weird accent. I&#39;ve lived in four countries, at least as many alternative universes, and countless alternative realities. I&#39;m fascinated with all sorts of cultures, languages, music, and foods. Some folks know me as a <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/writer" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>writer</span></a>, a lay <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/Buddhist" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Buddhist</span></a>, a <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/rabbit" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>rabbit</span></a> adopter, a <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/vegan" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>vegan</span></a>, or a <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/photographer

Like other industries, Big Booze fights science, health, and climate as it chases profit: Alcohol lobby takes on WHO in battle over health impacts The previously unreported efforts reflect how the $1 trillion global drinks industry is taking on the World Health Organization over its hardening stance that there is no risk-free level of drinking. https://www.thejakartapost.com/culture/2025/09/24/alcohol-lobby-takes-on-who-in-battle-over-health-impacts.html

Ohhhhh, this is weird: Pilot Pens, one of the most reliable fountain pen brands, no longer shows #FountainPens on their web site. Wonder if they’ve stopped production or sold the business? Or maybe their fountain pens will all be Namiki branding in future? Yikes, I’ll have to give them a call on Monday.

@tewha@appdot.net I’ve always wondered what cats love about keyboards. I can only guess that seeing us type reminds cats of “making biscuits” so they settle in.

@Lydie@tech.lgbt We re-fied our mortgage at 2.7 per cent too. As long as inflation is above that percentage we’re sort of making free money to pay down the principle. I like to pay loans off early, but not this one :-)
