Have you ever literally thrown away a novel because you thought it was evil, and you did not want anyone else to read it? If yes, tell us about it? (Please boost.)

We enter the part of the game where I get yelled at for saying a) one ought to vote, and b) one ought to vote for the Democrat. I'll say it anyway. I am aware that, for many of you, America's right-wing party, the Democrats, are almost exactly as much of an existential threat to you as America's batshit-crazy wing party. *Almost*.

Sometimes I remember that I have never properly mourned for the lost meaning of the verb phrase "to double down", which, contrary to this decade's usage, did not mean "repeats oneself".

A UI Opinion: If your app has a tag-centric capability, the default token, i.e. w/o marker characters, should be the tag, not the string literal. The string literal should require quotation marks. To search for tagged [GeePaw] books that are not tagged [read], I should be able to type: geepaw and not read In Calibre, I am required to type: tags:"=GeePaw" not tags:"=read" To quote my late father, "That really gripes my ass."

If LLMs constituted AI, they would be highly problematic, in terms of possible usages. As it happens, tho, they don't constitute AI, not even a little bit. So we really don't have to hedge at all. I don't use LLMs and I don't kiss boys who do. They are not *merely* a scam, a giant ponzi scheme whose intent is 100% to move even more wealth from the poor to the obscenely wealthy. They are also an ecological catastrophe, a financial destruction engine, and a complete and utter m...

There are lots of ways to make income that is not accessible to government recording, reporting, or taxation. When you're rich, those ways are called "clever". When you're middle-class, a vanishing species, those ways are called "fraud". When you're poor, those ways are called "criminal". Of the three tiers, the rich steal the most, at the least risk and the least punishment. The poor steal the least, at the greatest risk and the greatest punishment.

What is the greatest science fiction film or video series to date? I am not asking about novels of any kind. There, I am well-supplied. I am asking about original or adapted film or video.

One difference between rich people and poor people. A poor person gets fucked up and says or does stupid shit, and then they sober up, and look back, and they think, "Oh, shit, I was a dick, and I feel bad about it." A rich person gets fucked up and says or does stupid shit, and then they sober up, and look back, and the think, "I was so right!" Like, cuz they're rich, it simply never occurs to them that what they said or did was fucked up and stupid.

Hey Canada! You know I still love you, as most US citizens do. The Trump administration is bent on the destruction of the US, and our deep, warm, and trusting relationship with your country is part of the destruction they intend. That's okay. Please remember they aren't us. And meanwhile? Elbows up.

Every single time you "but it's useful" consult an LLM, you put money in the hands of people who do not believe that every child deserves food, shelter, and clothing. EVERY SINGLE TIME. So stop comin' at me with the "but it's useful".

Please please please: Don't forget to laugh. The single thing these fascist cucks can not handle? Laughter. They have a kind of psuedo-laughter, they do, centered around their cruelty. But it isn't real. They do not have the ability to laugh, only to sometimes imitate it. Laughter, then, is a form of resistance. At yourself, with your friends, and ultimately, against their lies. Don't forget to laugh, loves.

Working in edtech for the last five years, me and my group worried a lot about students using LLMs to falsely pass the tests designed to to assess their progress. The question I asked, and it was never really answered very well, was this: Given that none of us actually believed test-passing was a very good assessment technique to begin with, what could we come up with that would be a better way to assess progress?

If your left-leaning candidate lost their primary, that does *not* mean they -- or you -- failed. Parties can do math, and they respond to primary runs. If they move their dominant candidate even one inch to the left, as a result of a close-run primary, we still won. We didn't get in to this shithole in one election, and we're not gonna get out of it one election. Please don't storm off and non-vote in the generals. Celebrate your smaller w, and lay plans to make it bigger.

Can't believe I can't get a high-paying gig looking at murder/spy opsec scripts. "Yeah, no, every machine will have every usb port taped over with marker tape and checked every single day." "Yeah, no, nobody is allowed to bring a laptop into the building." "Yeah, no, US Marshal's don't transport serial murder suspects in pairs, and they don't trust text messages altering their planned route."

Had a tiny win this evening. My beloved came home from a tea, having stuffed herself with finger food, and said, "You're gonna have to feed yourself tonight." So I had a peanut butter sandwich and some potato chips and then some peach cobbler (from the tea).

Codeberg can do any fucking thing they want. Github surely has. Gitlab surely has. If you wanna use LLMs, you have two *massively* large repos to use. Why is this an issue to anyone?

Reminder: Governing is not actually one of their goals. They don't care about competence because, tho it takes thousands of talented and skilled people to *make* a cellphone, it only takes an angry 2yo to *destroy* one.
