I've FINALLY posted something new on the blog! In this one I talk about some insights I had from the book of Ecclesiastes and why "all is vanity" is actually good news. (Plus, I'm super proud of my meme work in this!) #Christianity #Bible #Theology #Anglican #Episcopal #Spirituality https://catecheticconverter.com/chasing-bubbles

Ngl, I’m quite pleased with what I made for my recent blog post, which is why I’m sharing it separately #ALilSelfIndulgence #WhichIsAlsoVanity

First Sunday not at mass in many years due to Hurricane #Lala. Lost power last night. Rain managed to get into our bedroom and drenched a lot of stuff. But everyone is safe. Just need to survive four kids packed into a power-out house. #Hawaii #Oahu

Maintenance person went by Saint Mary’s to check on things after the storm. Not sure why, but the big cross was lit up. Something hopeful and beautiful about seeing it on a text tonight: #cross #Church #Hawaii #Oahu #Hurricane #Lala

Join us on That Beautiful Stream for our second installment of our series on Obligations. This time, we're taking a look at what obligations we have when it comes not only to the Bible itself, but to the teachings contained within. We go live at 3:30 pm Hawai'i time! #Christianity #Anglican #Episcopal #Church #spirituality #theology #bible https://www.youtube.com/live/nOEla_rPu74

RE: https://halo.nu/@theguardian_world_news/117126370122664331 Man, I wish more Christians listened to Rowan Williams. (Alt link: https://unwall.app/www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026/aug/20/nigel-farage-rowan-williams-tommy-robinson-christianity-anti-muslim-feeling )

The kids don’t understand. When I was in elementary/middle school in the mid-90s, finding #Godzilla merchandise involved finding someone whose business was traveling to Japan to buy loads of Godzilla stuff and ship it back to the US. It meant calling people up from classifieds in G-Fan or, in my case, making pilgrimage to the Atlanta area for Showcase Collectibles. Now, they have niche Godzilla toys in the Happy Meal. And I truly love that for the kids. I’m so glad they have it this good.

I guess we're doing something right. After all Jesus said, "You are blessed when people insult you and harass you and speak all kinds of bad and false things about you, all because of me. Be full of joy and be glad, because you have a great reward in heaven. In the same way, people harassed the prophets who came before you." https://episcopalnewsservice.org/2026/08/20/episcopal-church-listed-among-those-dhs-spied-on-during-anti-ice-activist-probes/

I'm writing this from a standing desk, and trying out a trackball as a mouse (for maybe the first time... not sure, but I think I may have used one for a spell in the late-90s). Typing with a mechanical keyboard. On my Linux machine. Who have I become?

Oh man, this image that pops up whenever I attempt to read an article from Tech Radar (which it and The Verge seem to be very common on the News tab). “Your adblocker is attempting to interfere with the intended operation of this site” it says, in part. My adblocker blocks ads. So the “intended operation” of Tech Radar is to show me ads and not the articles that you’ve written? So Tech Radar is an ad delivery service and not tech-related news? Got it. #ContinuesWithoutDisabling

Was serving as a chaplain at our camp last week. Three years ago, due to a small name badge, I put my name down as "Fr Chaz" (a name I only use on social media). The kids immediately began calling me "Father Cheese." The name persists. I was even dropping something off at the camp yesterday and heard another group of kids calling out "Father Cheese!" -- kids who remembered me from previous years. It's corny, sure. But I love it.

Kids saw a moving sale sign and so bugged me about going. Turns out the dude had a TON of various gadgets he was getting rid of. Saw this Drop keyboard and had to have it (being a 90s kid I’m such a sucker for anything Atomic Purple). Got it for a steal (coupled with a bin of Lego he sold my kids). Might have to sub out my beloved Apple G4 Power Mac keyboard…

Typing on a laptop while listening to Moby's Play album on an iPod-looking mp3 player. Is it now or is it 26 years ago?

Feels weird to write a sort of obituary for Ted Turner considering that I knew very little of the man. But he was a fixture in the background of my entire life, largely shaping the world I knew. He was also widely criticized in my childhood church for his politics and (lack of?) faith. Which means that he is probably worth celebrating, if I'm being honest. #TedTurner #faith #Christianity #death #theology https://catecheticconverter.com/on-ted-turners-passing

Today we will be discussing the ever-present sign of the cross in Christianity. If you've ever wondered why we Christians make such a big deal out of the instrument upon which Jesus was killed, then this installment is for you. We go live at 2:30 Hawai'i time (but can be watched whenever after that) #Jesus #Cross #Anglican #Episcopal #Church #Christianity #Bible #Theology https://www.youtube.com/live/-M7bqYq4wpc

If I've learned anything from my years of following #mosstodon it's that I must visit Devon at some point in my life.

From when I was cool: In my late teens I started a ministry for skateboarders and we called it splinter. I made this stencil so we could spray paint the logo on boards (I used to put it on both skateboards and surfboards). Just came across the stencil as i was digging through old stuff as part of a writing project.

Because it is already #Easter in some quarters, figure now would be a good time to share once again this crucial message (and also a theme of my sermon in the morning): #BelieveWomen #MaryMagdalene #Christianity #Church #Jesus

Since today is the Feast of the Annunciation and I'm a priest at a church dedicated to Our Lady, figured I'd write a little something about the day (that also aims to challenge the traditions a little bit). https://catecheticconverter.com/on-the-annunciation-and-the-incarnation #Jesus #Mary #Anglican #Episcopal #Catholic #Church #Bible #Christian

Decided to write another thing about #surfing and what it means to my life. Also, the header photo is of me surfing! (From the summer of 2004, on tiny Fort Pierce summer waves) Whenever I try to add Alt text to my images in Write. As, I have problems (I'll put it in a reply). https://catecheticconverter.com/surfing-and-humility #Spirituality #Christianity #GrowingUp #Biography
