LibreOffice has this really annoying quirk with conditional formatting on spreadsheets, where if you delete a row, it will alter the selection for that formula and it looks like unparsable gibberish. I use conditional formatting a lot and I won't lie, it does annoy me. Gonna see how OnlyOffice handles things. #LibreOffice

I think I need to set a rule with free and open source software: if it's being evangelised and pushed, especially in a smug, condescending or otherwise generally circle-jerky sorta way, seek alternatives. It always seems like in the FOSS community, the jankiest shit gets evangelised while the stuff that's working or otherwise pragmatic gets left behind.

oh yeah btw, if you don't wanna hear about Tomodachi Life from me, pls mute the TomodachiLife hashtag. I'm gonna start posting stuff here.

reading some of the comments on the recent LTT Linux challenge and a lot of 'em are admitting to LLM/AI use to solve their problems. Not surprised. The water overuse claims that ideologues spread are basically myths but even in the case where it is true, it's funny that people would rather waste water than deal with the Linux community.

I'm glad there's articles like this coming out. It makes me feel like I'm not going insane. https://www.theverge.com/report/875077/linux-was-a-mistake #Linux

RE: https://mastodon.social/@Mastodon/116402716327956884 good stuff. I hoped the whinging from Lemmy and the privacy extremists didn't deter Mastodon from implementing FASP, seems like it didn't. It's genuinely not a bad idea.

Watching a vid about the Mario Galaxy Movie, and the video creator says something must've awoken someone in the scene where Yoshi eats Kamek and shits him out in an egg. I have to say it felt like the Writer's/Animator's Barely Disguised Fetish when Bowser Jr. trapped Rosalina's full body using goo. The animation in particular made it feel a bit fetishy ngl.

Feeling inspired to update my old post about leaving Linux after reading this. Particular mention on the part stating that their friends who had used Arch moved back to Windows. That's how I feel too. https://www.felixsanz.dev/articles/nixos-made-me-go-back-to-windows #Windows #Linux

I keep bouncing between Spotify and Apple Music tbh. Need to stick to one and stay on it... May cancel the Apple plan I'm on and go full-time with Spotify.

  • View post

I made a jokey introductory post for Linux newbies on Bluesky linking to Spotify because I think the entire range of music library players on Linux is complete ass as a MusicBee user (btw), and someone said I should've known better, and said to use SoundCloud, which is probably even worse technically and ethically than Spotify let's be real, and Newgrounds which isn't even for music libraries. Linux users and missing the point, an iconic combo lol

streamer's going on about whether X11 or Wayland is better for gaming, I've got the answer right here: Windows. It's Windows.

That whole thing about Windows 12 coming up and being an agentic AI, subscription-based OS, I'm just gonna say that I think it's fake lol. The one thing they HAVE said is that 2026 is fixing the pain points in Windows 11. https://www.theverge.com/tech/870045/microsoft-windows-11-issues-rebuilding-trust-notepad #Windows

Anyone here with experience in .NET: ResX seems to be veeeery Visual Studio specific and doesn't do Linux at all apparently. What are people using for localisation/ResX on Linux? Avalonia's localisation tutorial also says to use PublicResXGenerator or w/e it's called, which isn't available on Linux. #dotnet #csharp

There's a post on Bluesky going viral about how Storage Sense on Windows kept deleting the poster's old stuff, and they had to delete it because it breached containment and people kept going on about Linux lol
