>I will say, though, that still seems pretty lengthy and complicated to get working. ;) But I guess I only have to do it once. Yeah it is. Though, if you're doing sim racing and also modding a game it isn't an inherently a plug and play situation even in Windows. :P Most of the games I play are just 'buy, click install on Steam, press play'. >The only other one that might be an issue is the 2Real traffic/pedestrian mods. It looks like you can run the install.bat file i...

Ok, my coffee fueled morning research: Essentially, if you can install the game with Steam it works out of the box. According to Protondb (https://www.protondb.com/app/244210) the game has a Gold rating which means it works without any major flaws. - There's a guide to get Assetto Corsa setup: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2828364666 - If you don't want to fuss with all of this manually, someone has created a script to do most of the work here: https://github...

Their 'Research' AI is pretty decent too. I can get to the same ends eventually, but I can't read and digest 25 different pages and then launch another 10 follow-up searches in 15 seconds. It's summarizing and not simply inferencing so the hallucination rate is acceptably low and it also cites the sources so you can click a footnote to fact-check any important details. I self-host most things, but I can't self host a search engine. I much prefer paying monthly than having...

KolourPaint doesn't support layers, so when you paste something, put it into place and deselect it then it is written to the bitmap immediately. Use GIMP if you need to use layers. Tons of YT videos on how to do it (ex: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egyrVoXY7Ss )

We're not living in history, we're living in current events. In the year of our Lord 2026, on Facebook, 'antifa' is a term coopted by the right as I've outlined above.

Stealing them is felony grand theft. Vandalizing them is a misdemeanor (typically, check your local laws and also don't do crimes). If they were all stolen, it's an easy PR 'woe is us, think of the children' win for Flock. If there's a bunch of social media posts that are showing chopped down flock cameras just laying on the side of the road then it has better optics from the point of view of 'We don't want country-wide surveillance networks'.

>They want to do this kind of stuff with your head tracking data. The newer headsets can do eye tracking/gaze estimation. Useful for some VR things (foveated rendering) but I wouldn't trust Meta to leave the data on the headset.

I understand the process, I simply have not seen a single fork that has any kind of traction or support outside of the individual running the repository. The people who are making a big deal out of this are not the same people who have both the technical capability and willingness to take on a project as big as systemd. At best someone will create a script that deletes the lines from userdb and a user can run that and then compile and install systemd themselves. This is not the kind of tech...

Sure, it's very easy to remove. It's also very easy to ignore and not use. A lot easier and less security comprimising than downloading and compiling a custom fork of systemd from an untrusted source. These 'forks' are performative activism and not a serious attempt at maintaining a systemd fork. Once the outrage mob moves on to the next target the forks will disappear.

Yes, it must be staged. As we all know, our President typically never tries to exploit situations for his own benefit and often observes a period of quiet contemplation before addressing issues in a calm, selfless, and reasonable manner. The fact that he's out here shamelessly trying to use this situation to push agenda items while relentlessly posting on social media is strong evidence! /s This conspiracy nonsense is getting old, live in reality not in a fact-free world of made up stori...

Modern technology is great. It's massively cheaper and more performant for orders of magnitude less money. Consumer technology on the other hand, is cursed. The problem is that nobody needs to know how to use technology anymore. Every piece of consumer hardware and software is designed so that the company does all of the work for you and then rents you the fruits of the technology. Now you're eternally dependent on someone else to operate your technology for you because you're c...

The administration got into power by being the first to hire the company (Cambridge Analytica) that discovered how targeted advertisement could be used to turn cash into effective propaganda by exploiting psychological profiling and social media. That strategy requires a lot of money because in order to put their message in front of the eyes of people they have to pay for every single view. This has been effective since they represent a faction of American elites which have a huge amount of mo...

systemd already stores your realName and location. It has stored that information since the beginning. There is nothing that birthDate will tell a person that they can't find out using your realName and location.
