  A Stór (Irish for "my treasure") is a piece for marimba, piano, and fretless bass. It’s inspired by Piazzolla and dedicated to Tiziana. The bass I used here is a 1960s Höfner 182 that I’ve had since the 90s. It originally belonged to my uncle -- he played it with his band in the late Sixties.   Today I was listening to King Crimson's "Islands". The song moved me very much -- I consider it possibly the most perfect work by KC. After that or, better, when I thought the song was over, I started listening to my "Sundial". Then something totally unexpected happened: The ghost track on "Islands" started, nearly at the same time.   My life revolves around two places: my hometown in Italy and my home in Belgium. And depending on where I am, the “music room” changes completely. This track was recorded in Italy — where I have access to my double bass, an old Eko bass, a classical guitar, and a grand piano.   This piece for solo piano began as a small exercise in composing in the style of Bach (the kind of work I usually call “Bachian plagiarism” to clarify the Stream of my inspiration). However, as I wrote, the piece took on a life of its own, and in the end, I am quite satisfied with it. What do you think?
