One emergency. Several countries. One communication system. 🇪🇺 We are proposing the European Critical Communication System, a common solution for first responders acting in cross-border situations. First responders from different EU countries will be able to share voice, video, data and location in real time, securely and seamlessly under the same system. When disaster strikes, borders must not be a barrier for emergency teams. 🚒🚑🚓 Read more: https://link.europa.eu/8Hq39t

Did you know that there is no universal sign language? In the EU, sign languages are as diverse as spoken ones – varying across countries, ages, and social groups. Through our Strategy for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2021–2030, we’re committed to leading by example: making our events and content more accessible. Everyone deserves to have a right to freedom of expression, receive and share information, and take part in society on an equal basis. #InternationalDayofSignLanguages

Europe attracts and fosters top talent. 🔬 The European Research Council has awarded €705 million in Starting Grants to 421 early-career researchers across Europe. This gives them the opportunity to pursue bold ideas, build their own teams, and shape the future of science. We'll also welcome 21 researchers, currently based in the US and Canada, who will move to Europe to carry out their projects. This is almost double last year's number. Azodicarbonamide is a chemical used to make bread dough more elastic is also, incidentally, found in yoga mats. It is not healthy. And in Europe it is not allowed. Still, no burger crisis. No sudden change in taste. Just the same sandwiches, quietly made without it. And a regulation quietly doing its job in the background while you ordered your dinner. — Regulation (EC) No 1333/2008: Food additives. EU ban on azodicarbonamide. In force since 20 January 2009

Your hairdresser is applying chemicals to your scalp. And we have opinions about which ones. The very strong ones. Some substances once used in hair dyes were linked to serious health risks. So, we restricted them in the EU cosmetics market. No public drama. Just dangerous products replaced on salon shelves by better ones. Your colour still looks the same. The risk profile doesn’t. — EU Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009: In force since 11 July 2013 + restricted substances updates

Your mobile data shouldn't crawl just because you crossed the border. Under our ‘roam like at home', operators in the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway cannot ‘throttle’ your speed abroad. If 5G is available in the country you are visiting, you must have access to it at the same quality as at home. Since January 2026, Ukraine and Moldova have also joined the EU’s ‘roam like at home area.’ Because your connection should be as smooth as your travel plans. 😎
