I have no idea if this story (which I got from Discord) is true or not. But it is a very cute story regardless, so I’m posting it here. #Transgender

This, is a local tourist attraction in Calhoun Georgia. You can search for rock garden Calhoun, Georgia in Google Maps to get to it. It’s free. It’s behind the Seventh-day Adventist Church. It was never intended to be a tourist attraction. It’s been in maintenance for the past six years. This is one of about 14 to 17 similar structures. It’s taller than I am. It’s made from quick Crete and Home Depot sand. I’ll post more pics over the next week. #Georgia #Calhoun #Art

RE: https://dice.camp/@Da_Gut/116842635266307459 This podcast episode is crackling good. That unisexual salamander complex is absolutely crazy. It uses the sperm of five different species of salamander to trigger its egg production. It’s a polyploidy complex - well, the majority are a tetraploidy. The unisex lineage has been around for over 2 million years. The bit on dragonfly migration is equally fascinating #Nature #Salamanders #Dragonflies #Podcast

If you are growing bell peppers, here’s something to remember. If you pick them while they are still dark green, then you will get pepper after pepper after pepper. If you let them turn yellow or red or whatever their ripe color is then the plant will stop producing. That’s why it’s pretty common to see yellow and red bell peppers priced just a little bit more than the dark green ones #Gardening #Peppers

Oh, look. The whole AI vibe coading Claude code -split has come to amateur radio! Not ham radio specifically but meshcore. I should probably read over the mesh core # before I post this, but I’ll do that after the fact. https://blog.meshcore.io/2026/04/23/the-split #AI #AmateurRadio #Meshcore

https://www.bgr.com/1998047/raspberry-pi-internet-in-a-box/ Does anybody have one of these? Does anyone know of any actual use - as in know personally. Imagine it would be fairly slow - is that accurate? Have any preppers utilized these in their survival kits? I’m looking for at least secondhand knowledge. Not hearsay or not pure hearsay. Any hands on evaluations of their limitations after one year of use? #RaspberryPi #InternetInABox #Off-lineAccess #Prepper #Survival. #Technology. #Educatio...

So I paid $40 (which I really don’t have) for the six hour ham cram. But at the end of it, I received lunch. I looked at numerous bits of ham gear. I got a Baofeng radio and a years membership in a large active club. The radio comes loaded via chirp software with every repeater in a 25 mile radius and several just outside of it that are popular. That’s more valuable to me than the radio. I’ve got a nicer handheld. I can pull those repeaters off via chirp for it. #HamRadio.

The only marsupial on the north and South American continents. I believe. It would not surprise me if there were a couple of species of possum. This cute adult is sheltering under an old boat. It was propped up overturned for a goat shelter, many years ago. The goats totally ignored it. I saw this guy a little bit ago. #Nature #Georgia #Possum #Marsupial #USA

Back home. I got a very little browsing and goofing off done today. It was pretty much all the odd jobs. And this weekend should be the last weekend in this house down here of my brothers and there’s still a fair bit to be done so I’m gonna be working my butt off the next few days.

I used to have a friend who was a breeder for parrots. Quite a few different species. I would go over once a week when it was fledgling season to help socialize the young birds. One summer she had six young greenwing macaws of roughly the same age. All of them adored me. I would walk into the room and they would abandon whatever person they were on and come climb me and I would be covered in young greenwings. They are huge birds. #Parrots

Oh yeah, that waffle house I ate lunch at yesterday had a white pine and a honey locust tree over at the side of the parking lot. There is a small private cemetery immediately on the other side of a fence. The white pine is obviously planted. But a honey locust? I can’t see any business planting it. I didn’t see any around at the cemetery, so I’m not 100% sure where that tree came from but it’s a good size tree #ramblings

Squee!! A not at all good picture of a new to me species of bee! This is a blueberry digger bee. Which I have never seen before. Both blueberries and this bee are native to the United States. Though highbush blueberry bushes like this one are not native to this area. I am totally doing a little happy dance here! #bee #Nature #Georgia #Pollinators #Blueberry #Insect
