@ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org "Work resumed with the coyotes using non-unionized labor. The facility's purpose is unknown but it appears to be a large facility for holding roadrunners."

I wonder if advertising messages with an AI slop illustration are more or less impactful. Has anyone done a reasonable study of this?

@ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org And when my wife and I first met and went camping in CA she asked "why do you shake your shoes before putting them on?", "Habit" I said. Because yeah, in the desert you always shake your shoes before putting them on because smaller things think of shoes as caves they can hang out it to get out of the heat.

@ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org I'm a bit surprised you couldn't find it stocked in a bike store somewhere reasonably near by. That said, there are now Ebay sellers that seem to use AI to take a search query and compose a 'buy it now' page for the part. I haven't tried 'flux capacitor' yet but I'm getting close 😆

At this late stage I'm kind of surprised we don't have a programming environment that is simply an HTML rendering / UX engine that you run your code in. Where the HTML engine is the equivalent of the BASIC interpreter kinds of thing. Sort of like an all-in-one one window window system + language interpreter.

Anyone know what the copyright status on that Softbank slide deck is? I mean if you were organizing a bunch of tech workers to start a union it would be a good start, right?

@spaf@mstdn.social Yeah, it would be an excellent #Monsterdon screening. We used to have an annual screening/bbq party that we'd do.

After a bit of searching we have identified this #bird as a Black Necked Stilt walking in the tidal pools around Sausalito.

A more in depth follow up to malus.sh which is both satire *and* a product (it will actually do what you ask it to do). Key bit: It's legal justification is based on the Columbia Data Products v. IBM BIOS copyright lawsuit of 1982 https://www.404media.co/this-ai-tool-rips-off-open-source-software-without-violating-copyright/?ref=daily-stories-newsletter

Fun fact, 260,000 acre solar farm with 250,000 dedicated to panels and 10,000 dedicated to a battery plant, would power the entire state, 24x7 on just sunlight. Assuming the 5000 cycles is the UPPER end of the batteries, that's 12 years of power for the entire state, for "free". For reference, California has 1.9 MILLION acres in the central valley planted in Almonds. this would take 14% of that and not need any water.

Heads up you code maintainers who take submissions from people, delete unicode characters. See this: https://arstechnica.com/security/2026/03/supply-chain-attack-using-invisible-code-hits-github-and-other-repositories/ Yes, people put back doors in code using unicode characters that don't show up on the screen. #infosec #foss #github
