I think a big issue now is things have changed. IMO over the last few years some internet users have leaned into self censorship and started to realise how much of a commodity our privacy is, therefore I suspect a lot less people will engage in meaningful discussion. People will usually stop and help but that’s more of a when pushed rather than just heading in to share anything or everything. I personally feel the old days of internet debate that are genuinely human; are gone. Anything that ga...

The car thing bothers me. I have purposely chose an old non smart car, but given I have a license plate i am still monitored. I am seeing a lot just randomly on roadsides and I live kinda regional. As for out in public, I have been considering a really light mouth mask, glasses and a hat. I thought I was crazy...I really thought i was turning into an irrational paranoid person. Can't shop online as I cant stand online shopping and algorithms anymore, plus i prefer to shop local. Its...

I would love to think its just a hardware and software issue, it is a habit issue too - i am keen to get away from my phone. I am starting to detest it. But we do still need things that genuinely aid us. People do need maps. and bank apps on the go. I am trying to break my habits. I have been tempted to go back to a nokia flip but i need a map. I miss the days of flips, that satisfying clip closed. The actual physical act of opening it. I will be moving to graphene pretty soon but its stil...

Have you tried the 17 versions of AI woman they might tell you wonderful and all that crap. Like really why arnt the 50% population that are female all acting submissive, who do I complain to? Where is that woman who lives above the basement; with my food. Oops sorry I am leaning into stereotypes there. OP step off your phone. Talk to people, engage in critical thinking. Maybe update us in 4 weeks with an updated %.

And that’s the problem, i live where there is a different political setup so i am trying to be mindful of the layers you guys have and how someone rises to power. I admit tv and media has in the past shaped what i thought was the case.

Reminds me of when my stepmother turned off the router because she didn’t want incoming radiation and then couldn’t figure why her emails were not arriving.

I would say no. But there are outliers Knew someone that lived in a major and expensive city, after tax, paying back training costs, cost of living and paying his wife's medicals bills, there was little left. They were lucky to earn that much else she would have died.

I didn't mind this article. It highlights a struggle of someone clearly at odds with the betrayal brought on by tech The example of IBM is a good one, and the fool me once concept. And for many they got into tech to bring good change, that got hijacked by the greedy. What I struggle with is the fact corps gonna make money with that and people have made big money and gone with this, and it’s only after being laid off they are open to the ills of the what has happened. The bigger question...

I have an apology to make. I did a knee jerk reaction. I already have an ASUs running. I was using netgear 30 years ago then switched to ASUs 20 years ago…. Been replacing it since. Brain fart yesterday. I have a netgear in the cupboard that the isp sent me. Getting flung.

Ok so looks like move of device for me. Apple iphone is my last bastion of big tech and I held off as I didn’t want to swap hardware. I’m not super clued on my options but I have been looking at sailfish or graphine. I won’t be buying a brand new device I’ll purchase a used one second hand. I’m not fussy with which hardware. I am happy to use the browser, i need an average camera, and i like a map /music in the car I do like Linux but don’t want an ongoing subscription for sailfish. What op...

I have not bothered with YouTube since ads and the stupidity at volume kicked in. So glad I am not trapped into it. Video content has a place but it’s bloated and predatory thanks to clickbait and monetisation. For that reason the good content gets lost/shunned on my behalf.

No and the hyperbole around this gives AI authority that it does not deserve. I love art, and one of the things that has peeved me off in the last 10-15 years is how many times I have stood in a gallery and all around me are people with a phone out snapping a pic to say I have been there. There is only one of that item. One, and in real life if you take the time to view, you can appreciate the delicate lines, the brush strokes, the variation of colour and technique, the grain of the canvas tha...
