The issue is that there is no utopia. If you make one, it instantly looks like a cover. “A place of pure light and peace” is hiding something. Even if the DM intended for it to be perfect, the players could certainly see it as a threat. Unless the DM breaks the fourth wall and explicitly tells them it’s real, there’s no way for the players to know that. Then, when that place that has tons of resources is fighting some poor faction next door, it looks pretty damning. The same issue as above hap...

I guess, but it isn’t shifting between GPU or CPU depending on what’s free. It might happen to not have a significant effect (heat is still an effect), but doesn’t know.

Yeah, for me (who hates Apple), this didn’t reflect poorly on them really. It reflected poorly on our system, where open bribes are applauded instead of punished, and where our leader can be purchased so easily. Apple just made a smart play. It isn’t their fault this was the smart thing to do.

That's totally missing the point. The scale of our roads is far larger than is strictly necessary, but we build in a lot of the costs associated with car usage, making it effectively cheaper to use a car. We also don't invest in alternatives, making it practically necessary. This all has the effect of increasing the scale of roads, increasing the cost. Yes, we need *some* roads, and yes some of that cost should be socialized. We *do not* need roads like we have today. We also do not nee...

It might not be the best book ever written, but I think it's important to read. It's one of the most cited books to support whatever people want. Once you read it, you can interpret it for yourself, and you actually know what it's about. The thing most people know from it is Big Brother watching you. It's just surveillance state stuff. That's a relatively small part of it though. It's more about shaping culture through information control. Yeah, surveillance is part of i...

F and C are both made up points, not absolute values. C is great, if what you care about is what water is doing. F is great, if you care about how something feels to a human (not saying you can't memorize new numbers, but 0 and 100 being dangerous is simple). If you want an actual "best" temperature scale, use Kelvin. 0 is no energy. It actually has a fundamental base. If you argue that temperatures that are useful to humans are too hard to memorize, then you're making the arg...

Fun fact: the air conditioner was invented because the southern US is frequently so humid that evaporative cooling doesn't work, and it's *hot*. AC pulls water out of the air in the process of cooling, so it has a double effect of making the air cooler and allowing your sweat to evoporate to cool you.

A few years ago I purchased an NVMe SSD, and an adapter, without thinking much of it. I try to use it, only to find out it isn't recognized. My motherboard didn't support it. I had to manually download files for it and patch in support to the motherbord's firmware. You haven't lived until you do this.

I hope it isn't necessary, but I'm certain there's going to be at least one person who doesn't understand that that *is* French.
