Yes its surveillance state being built. Humans will work for Ai in exchange for basic income.

Thats actually insane in itself that it got that close. Next time they will succeed. :/ People are so stupid to support this. They dont seem to understand that its never about protecting anyone and its always about building dystopia.

They are as good at talking as they are poor at listening. :) Some of them predict what you are going to say and interrupt you as well when you are talking, so they can get back to talking. Lol. I once asked someone why they do that and she said because its boring to wait for me to finish talking. I guess their brains are always full of things to say and there is too little time to say it, specially when someone else talks and takes up time..

Depends on who you follow, specially on YouTube. There are lots of small channels that just make videos about how they feel and how to improve yourself, for example. I subscribe to all of those small channels with an interest that i share. Then youtube feels like when it started. Just ordinary people talking and not acting in front of camera.

I dont think more users is very important. Its not going to make Lemmy change from mostly memes anyway. The mentality of the largest Lemmy instances is still to moderate away opinions they dont agree with, so this place is never going to be good for any discussions where people disagree strongly. Most users downvote what they dont agree with. Its a circle jerk echo chamber where we all agree or get downvoted. But we can all enjoy memes together. :) Its kind of nice. Lemmy is chill and eas...

Shooting was fake: https://www.reuters.com/legal/government/legal-filing-raises-questions-about-who-shot-secret-service-officer-press-dinner-2026-04-29/ Is this even in the news in America? Or did the media cover it up.

I mean, also look at how windows installs programs. Its like a 100 step process taking several minutes, because just putting the files where they need to be is just too simple. Or the uninstall program, cant just remove the files, no... Need to run full installer backwards to remove all the registry entries and even reboot the system to get rid of it all.

If you install immich in your homelab, you can just transfer all the images off your device very easily with the immich app. Probably the only way to keep them private from big tech. But the long term solution is to not use the official Android or Apple systems and to root your phone and install cyanogenmod or something similar without Google apps. But that means some apps wont work at all, so thats the price to pay for that freedom. Or you can just buy a separate camera and stop using your p...

Its nice with chat bots like chat gpt but companies who bet on their own Ai... Or who believe they will be the next billion dollar Ai startup.... I dont believe in any of that. I think we pretty much have seen what is going to come from Ai. Chat bots. People will pay for those, specially programmers. But also other people. Outside of that.... I cant see much value to pay for. Nothing in fact.

We who use Firefox are very fortunate right now since it still blocks all ads and I hope that will continue forever. I used chromium to test YouTube without it, and its just completely unusable.

Humans have created all scarcity, because we think money is more important than human happiness. Or at least we go along with that system and cant change it.

Any mac users out there who tried this browser? Linux alpha is coming this month so will try it myself then. It sounds like they are building a new browser from the ground up.

Starting with Firefox 148, which rolls out on Feb. 24, you’ll find a new AI controls section within the desktop browser settings. It provides a single place to block current and future generative AI features in Firefox. They actually listened to the community, thats very nice.

Software engineers at Microsoft are now expected to use both Claude Code and GitHub Copilot and give feedback comparing the two, I’m told. Microsoft sells GitHub Copilot as its AI coding tool of choice to its customers, but if these broad internal pilot programs are successful, then it’s possible the company could even eventually sell Claude Code directly to its cloud customers. Guys? Are we going to have to rename Microsoft products from Copilot to Claude soon? Microsoft Claude 365?
