@EdwinG@mstdn.moimeme.ca Normally, a bank issues credit card to a person without VISA's permission. VISA doesn't know about it nor does it have access to her account. They just see a credit card transaction whose first 5 digits point to a certain bank. What is also possible is that she got added to a black list and member banks check every new customer against it so that would explain why she can't get a VISA or Mastercard.

    @jfmezei@cosocial.ca Not anymore… when they issue a card, they do send all your info to the payment processor. I chose NBC at random… see section 3.2 of the privacy policy: https://www.nbc.ca/privacy-policy.html#how-use-share-your-information-with-whom
