The Turtles only had three fingers and they managed just fine.

I don't recall Donatello's staff having a spinning blade in the middle of it, though! (Alternately, maybe they originally had 5 fingers, and after losing two each they collectively decided to remove the pizza cutter blades from their weapons.)
