Buying collectors coins direct from the mint always costs more than face value. That’s nothing new or special.
The mint violating the law to mint this as legal tender (since they claim they’ll be in circulation too) is the actual story.

Coolidge did the same thing. It’s just a coin and within the norm for big anniversary years. He has so many crimes, this is so minor I’d rather focus on the corruption that you can’t opt out of. Just don’t buy the coin.
