Seems like a large part of the attraction of LLMs and diffusion models is that it gives people the sensation of having a slave
I know I'm not the first person to notice this but I still think we should talk about that more

@SallyStrange@eldritch.cafe Yes, that may be true in much of Western Europe and North America. In contrast, AI may feel disproportionately empowering in societies where colonialism and subsequent global capitalism have left expertise, "prestigious" languages, institutional knowledge, and professional assistance extremely unequally distributed. Try applying your take to Southeast Asian countries, where AI acceptance is towards the more optimistic end of the spectrum, and you can probably begin to see how cruel Western universalism can be.
