I am going to play devil's advocate and say that Gavrilo Princip got exactly what he wanted. The Austo-Hungarian empire collapsed forever, the Hapsburgs are now irrelevant forever, and Yugoslavia would exist for 70 years total as a unified state.

Also the Taino are dead, so are many other Amerindian groups, and most surviving groups are declining shells of their former selves.
