@coral For a while I split the difference and had a driver's license with x and a passport with my birth sex, under the idea that I could present the right thing in each moment. Never really worked out like that but it was a theory that I'd be more likely to encounter a hostile passport control border guard than a hostile local traffic cop? Everything is in my birth sex now as I was forcibly re-gendered when moving internationally - they only accepted passport as valid identity proof at the dmv here.

    @coral@kind.social I don't need the state to recognize me as a person right now if I have access to what I need from it without the official recognition. The trick is that getting what I need is not always possible even with recognition
