Just stumbled upon https://www.eurekalert.org/news-releases/925127 and somehow my brain maps this in semantic space close to @SuricrasiaOnline@cybre.space "Yo, it responds to light and is alive for 50 days... so obviously, the next step is to keep it alive longer and see what it does." /o\ Well, what do you think develops if you grow a brain from human DNA for extended periods of time.

    https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-026-11032-2 "The inaccessibility of human brain tissue limits [...]. Transplantation of neural organoids into rodent hosts" is already not looking good. But a few words later they follow that with "alongside behavioural phenotyping of the host animals". And yep, the paper does exactly what this sounds like. /cc @suricrasia@lethargic.talkative.fish
