"When I moved to France in 2019, I thought the constant protests were excessive. I thought, why can't they just be reasonable, go vote, work through the system?
"Then I watched from France as Americans, my friends, my family silently accepted things that would literally shut this country down.
"Mass deportations of neighbors. In France, people would physically block it.
"Police killing citizens. In France, cities would burn until there was accountability. Government threatening democratic institutions.
"In France, the president would be politically destroyed. But in America, we tweet. We write think pieces. We're outraged on TikTok. We wait for the next election. And then nothing changes.
"The problem isn't that Americans don't care. The problem is that we've been trained to forget that we have power and how to use it."
