I could really go for a 6 months hiatus and the same for my girlfriend. We both never had kids.
I know that having kids isn’t a vacation though. It’s a lot of work. So it’s not quite the same.

Paternity/Maternity leave isn’t for the benefit of the parent, it’s for the benefit of the child. This is like seeing your coworker get time off for cancer treatment and wondering why you aren’t afforded the same time off
