My daughter is having a hard time again. She felt terrible telling me about her struggles the other night, thinking it was better to protect me from more anxiety and worry since I already have enough of my own. She couldn't bring herself to tell me that she hasn't been doing well for at least six months. I'm glad we had a long conversation, cried, and let it all out. I told her she should always feel free to talk to me and never view her problems as a burden. So, I suggested we restart our Wednesday routine of grabbing a takeaway coffee and walking to campus. She instantly lit up, and today we did just that. I don't really know why we ever stopped, it might have been money, or something else. But I promised I'll never be too busy to make time for my firstborn daughter, because I love her. We kept this weekly routine for years, especially during her deepest depression. Now, no matter what, we'll keep it going. Things will get better, I'm sure of it.
