It’s odd how quiet they’ve been since this all came out, almost like a “yeah, and?” response.

Not odd at all - why would they add fuel to the fire when their desired outcome is for everybody to move as quickly as possible to the next controversy, and forget about this one?

Probably because in many countries with actual privacy laws that stuff is illegal, but they did it anyway because they figured the risk to request made sense.
