I'd say that the best (or least-worst depending on your POV) non-work use-cases I've found for GenAI so far is investigating fictional murder mysteries and playing solo D&D campaigns. I didn't have AI bringing back interactive fiction and text adventure games on my bingo card for this year, but if this is a technology we grudgingly have to live with now, that does seem like one of the more enjoyable side-effects. 🤔 (Obligatory acknowledgement that the training data for this likely came from human authors. OpenAI is still fighting a legal battle. Anthropic settled a class action lawsuit and paid out to the publishers & authors affected)
