Denmark has many historic expressions and here is a funny one:
"Jeg stikker ikke op for bollemælk", literally translates to "I won't pitch up hay for dumbling milk" (a soup dish).
The reason Danes say this is, when farmers demanded workers use pitchforks to lift up the hay onto wagons, that was REALLY hard work; so workers would revolt if they were served lousy food afterwards.
So if you say, "I won't pitch up hay for dumbling milk", that signals you are ready to fight for fair terms. ✊🏼
