My theory about this is that Musk's goal has ALWAYS been just to get himself to an off-planet colony before he dies. He once said that he planned to retire on Mars, and his totally unrealistic Starship timelines reflected this. Now even he's he's realized it isn't happening (in time anyway), and the moon is his only chance. IMHO, he's welcome to leave. But I predict him as "first one to get eaten if the food runs out."

@JSteven @jdnicoll He's welcome to try a test run of inhabiting his lunar base closed ecosystem for a couple of years in the middle of Antarctica.
