Iran has submitted a proposal to the U.S. through mediators to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and resume negotiations towards a final agreement, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said. Under the proposal, Washington would have seven days to fulfill certain conditions after accepting it. Araghchi said the demands do not go beyond the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, which included sanctions relief, the release of frozen Iranian assets, and an end to military operations, including in Lebanon. Tehran is awaiting a U.S. response. Araghchi said Iran is not in a hurry but would prefer to resume negotiations before the U.S. midterm elections in November.
