Simpler times back then. We had to hunt, gather, navigate and keep our children safe and fed and that was about it.
Having an LLM make you a grocery list is stupid unless it’s like a really difficult recipe, but technology in general has been crucial to offload some of the cognitive load. Nowadays we really have to share some of that cognitive load with something else or else we will get burnt out. We can’t keep overclocking a brain that was made for the tasks I mentioned in the first paragraph.

We had to hunt, gather, navigate and keep our children safe and fed and that was about it. and now we work all day, have no time for socialising, and get paid in imaginary currencies.

We can’t keep overclocking a brain The last 60,000 years of human ingenuity and creativity would prove that to be demonstrably false. The problem isn’t how much we have to process but what we’re being forced to by modern life.

It would be so incredibly hard to hunt and gather enough, navigate safely, all whilst trying to keep one’s idiot children safe from predators, disease etc. No wonder we died at 40
