A word on Steroids (for medical conditions, not the bulk up your muscles kinds.) I still lack the verbiage to adequately describe what I've experienced with prednisone. “Feeling parts of my body that I didn't know where there” and “I can feel the insides of my bones” are somewhat emphatic yet don't seem to satisfy. “The necessary evil” one of my docs and then myself called it. The mania. The inability for patience. Snapping at everyone. Euphoria like I can do anything one minute, and later, the inevitable crash sleeping 16 hours. As a lifelong asthmatic, Prednisone has undoubtedly saved my life a FEW times by keeping my lungs open so I could breathe. It's also wreaked some wrathful attacks on my bones, skin, mind, teeth, muscles………. It's almost like being entangled in an abusive, codependent relationship wherein they've got the thing(s) you need to remain alive and or function at all for a while longer, but still totally unhealthy for you and also actively trying to end you.

  • I didn't know people stayed on it longterm until I was an adult and my Aunt was almost always taking it due to MS symptoms/complications, and later, another Aunt who took it due to Lupus and other issues....
