I haven’t played the 2nd but I remember the first feeling like eight separate short stories that just so happened to include party mechanics and level grinding.
“I only work alone.”
“Join up with this group of 7 random people?”
“Okay!”

Did you finish the first one? I played through all the characters through either chapter 1 or 2 (can’t remember now) and it immediately turned into a grindfest where I couldn’t progress because everything was suddenly killing me. Did I miss something or was it specifically designed to be a “grind to progress” type of game?
