I decided to try some non-Linux OS to use for most of my computing tasks on my second/old laptop – the ideas were originally NetBSD and FreeBSD, but a friend of mine suggested Haiku. I studied the docs a bit, I was surprised by its good compatibility with SW from the Linux world and I decided to give it a try – with a dedication to try to write any software I miss there, including drivers, to learn more about the platform (Haiku on a x86_64 ThinkPad). Outcome? I'm using it for about 3 days and I frickin' love it! :neofox_floof: Modesetting, backlight control, audio, Wi-Fi and many others just work. Apps just work too! It's an amazing system.
