People working in the UK and in your twenties, please stop opting out of your auto-enrolment workplace pensions! Every £ you save that way is tax exempt (until it's paid out) and your employer tops it up each month, so if you don't save anything you're losing part of your pay package & paying more tax. The relatively low amount you pay in today also compounds & spares you from having to pay in much more at a later stage in your life. So opting out now is the very definition of a false economy! If you're struggling you can adjust how much you're saving into it or potentially use salary sacrifice to save in a more tax-efficient way that increases your take-home pay. Your local council also has a household support fund if you're in immediate financial hardship. Disclaimer: This is a non-expert opinion. Seek independent financial advice for your own circumstances before making long term investment decisions. MoneyHelper & Citizens Advice provide that for free. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c68xk0ndqz8jo
