A pleasure to have been able to see Prof Ben Newell present tonight on "Climate Risk and Response: A Behavioural Challenge?". A couple of things struck me. 1. There is a mismatch between risk and perception of risk, and survey respondents both over and underestimate risk. This has got to be related to education in the earth sciences. We need to keep our geology and geography departments running! 2. I really appreciated Ben's point in this "omnicrisis" that we actually cant disentangle climate from the other crises. We won't solve the cost of living without climate solutions! Now how do we communicate this... Something I've missed the most being based at research institutions or govt departments in the last 6 years has been access to a wide variety of seminars! Looking forward to making the most of being back on campus.
