I dunno, man. Some things are actually just bad, and scolding people for their "absolutist" stance on such things is not the big-boy adult-in-the-room position you seem to think it is. Sometimes it's okay to be an absolutist. I'm an absolutist about, for example, smoking in public. There's no compromise position that doesn't mean I sometimes have to breathe cigarette smoke, and I don't believe it's reasonable to ask me to do that. So I'm an absolutist, and I think that's justified.
