pro git tip: you don't have to put the --global flag in when setting user.email and user.name like the instruction hint says. You can set it per repo (edit: or per folder of repos). If you need to have different identities per repo. Because ... I don't know you have some work things and you have some personal things, and you have some horny things you don't want all tied to the same id.
You can even set different ssh keys if you set core.sshcommand to have a -i parameter pointing at a different key, and you probably should do this, unless each id is on a different forge, but you almost certainly want one key for each id.
Yes it makes spinning up a new repo slightly more annoying in that you'll have to set this every time ... but you can be more of you at once and in my eyes that's a valid trade off.
