If I take her at face value sure, yes, there are going to be people and are people who are angry that we are not developing every single drop of oil and gas possible.
But that does not negate the fact, the physics, of the problem we are in.
We must stop developing oil and gas energy.
We must stop emitting CO2.
We must end the use of fossil fuels.
That means at the end of the day all Danielle Smith's tears accomplish, in both the short and long term, are tears for all the rest of us as our homes burn, our crops dry out, and our societies become unable to function.
We must transition to clean energy immediately to avoid a disastrous future.
Smith's tears, genuine or not, are not helping anyone.

@chris@mstdn.chrisalemany.ca She's shedding tears for American investors who take 60% of oil profits out of Canada. The oil companies have reduced capital spending while asking for more government funding. They've laid off 50K workers since 2019. They have abandoned thousands of wells and the Feds gave Alberta $1B in 2020 to clean them up. And remediation of the oil sands will cost billions once the industry dies. The industry knows the boom is over but Smith can't admit that. #CanPoli https://youtu.be/N7XzEoddonU
