I own a PHEV and I surely get your point: when I’m doing a long trip I don’t even plan to plug it along the way both for the reason you pointed out (it takes about 3 hours to charge it to get some modest 70km of electric route) but I wouldn’t also because the price of electricity in fast charger is so much higher than regular ones.
On the other hands, when I’m moving in the city I may go entire months without ever turning on the petrol engine simply because I can charge the car at my office place.
So, I get your point, but frankly don’t agree too much on the conclusion that phevs are not green. I may do 5/6 maybe 10 long trips per year while I use my car daily for every other need in the city.

@skeyby@punk.kitchen @ChrisMayLA6@mastodon.me.uk In cold weather I guess you use the petrol more with electric heating. In my EV my long distance run charging seems always to coincide with the need for a pee and coffee. Tesla chargers are not that much more expensive than peak rate at home and many allow non Teslas
