@silverpill@mitra.social A kind of centralized authority that is set up by default on new Mastodon instances. It collects information from all participants to promote trends, widely shared content, and profiles. The problem is that it is opt out not opt in.. In my opinion, this completely contradicts the idea of decentralization, encourages manipulation, and favors large instances and high-profile accounts. It’s a kind of class society. Unfortunately, it doesn’t exactly make the Mastodon project more appealing.
