@TrueNorthSpice@mastodon.world I remember reading a piece in the NYT about a little boy who unboxed a toy on Youtube and his parents turned him into an industry. Even dressed him young when he was aging, because he brought in so much $. I imagine he'll go on a shooting spree at some stage. Was a horrifying story.

@VWDasher@mymasto.com Ugh. That's awful! I understand the lure though, especially if parents are experiencing financial difficulties. When I was a single mom of two toddlers, and trying to balance university fees, plus household and childcare expenses, someone approached me with an offer to make my children famous as the symbol for their company, as models, like the Gerber baby.I thought about it but turned down the deal. Sometimes it's tempting to foresake ones values for an easy way out of poverty.
