These expulsion spaces are where we see the reality of the fashion industry, stripped of its glamour and false promises. We also see the burden that has been placed upon charity shops that have been forced to become the first sorting site for a chaotic global waste stream, and face the reality of where donations end up when they can't be sold.
I loved doing this story with Shiroma. Getting to sort through sacks of worn clothes brought some interesting flashbacks to writing Charity Shop World.

The studio discussion after the segment is interesting... Shows there is a lot more work to be done! What I will say is: 1) It is *already* internationally recognised that it makes a massive environmental and social difference where waste ends up - to the extent that legislation exists to stop e.g. the export of plastic waste out of the EU (The Basel Convention is real!) Fashion must not be an excuse for flouting the Basel Convention via the export of dangerous plastic fibres.
