A woman with the Bsky handle genna has them clocked: a LOT of the techniques and ideologies (faith in unpaid, uncomfortable labour as a way to modify behaviour, impossible/humiliating tasks) seem inspired by the widespread and widely criticized American wilderness reform schools/for-profit troubled teen industry. At least the sea will swallow Miami like unto Port Royal.
