@Rasterman@detroitriotcity.com Nintendo is very weird with their release schedules: some franchises have a strict One Game Per Console policy, like Mario Kart and Smash Bros. Others get a steady stream of new releases like Kirby and Fire Emblem. And then you have Metroid and F-Zero, who went through periods of such frequent releases that it caused gamer burnouts (look at how many F-Zero games we got during the GCN/GBA era), and who then got iced because the last entry sold poorly. You could argue that something similar also happened to the New Super Mario Bros. games. A new high quality game every 3-4 year might be ideal, especially if the franchise has a strong 2D *AND* 3D presence, so you effectively get a new game every other year.
