@ravendwyr@gamepad.club My uneducated, baseless guess is that whether consciously or subconsciously we view our characters as extensions of ourselves. We may not feel the physical pain, but we nonetheless "feel" some component. ... It is kinda odd now you mention it, because it's almost always just automatic for me.
