Whatever your opinion about AI is, I firmly believe that we are witnessing a technological revolution of historic proportions - the only thing I can compare it to is the internet's widespread adoption around 2000. And watching how it unfolds is also interesting from a geopolitical aspect - the USA's status as the world's leading force has been damaged with Iran and its president's absurdities, and the AI race could be a decisive factor on the financial field for the world's new order. So far, Anthropic and OpenAI have been clearly leading the field with Claude and GPT/Codex. TBH, for coding, these are the only tools that can actually be worth it atm. But China is trying to catch up, and this month there will probably be a launch that could change the game. Deepseek is expected to release v4 in April, which is rumored to actually compete with Codex and Claude Opus - while being open source, using much less resources, can be run locally (not on cheap hardware but we're getting closer to that all the time) and could be more than 10 times cheaper than the US models. The US companies have been upscaling and upscaling, while the chinese have been focusing more on efficiency. And what raises the stakes even more is that Deepseek has stopped working with NVIDIA and they've been working with Huawei hardware. So if the new model proves to be close to what it's rumored to be, this can have a huge impact on the US economy. It will also be a big win for open source, and good for the environment if more efficient models are released. So even if you're not interested in using AI tools yourself, I do think that it's interesting to follow how things evolve - this will affect everyone's lives in one way or another. #AI #LLM
