To be clear, I think it was unfair that the prevailing media narrative about Joe essentially became Republican talking points about his cognitive decline, but the fact that he stepped aside anyway showed his commitment to his country over his ego, and brilliantly allowed all of the stupid "senile old man" rhetoric to be immediately flipped onto Trump, who was always the incoherent one, going back decades.
