RE: https://mastodon.art/@colorblindcowboy/117346513483589212 Reading through “The History of Hell” and what’s amazing to me is how everyone — believer or unbeliever — has a narrative of Christian belief that’s not so much based on the Bible at all. But rather on an extended universe made by saints, scholars, prophets, and kings, who variously interpret, cope, confabulate, and write downright fantasy. Because that Bible is shifting sands of meaning and metaphor. Yet, as the good book says, the foolish man built his house upon sand.
