I guess the only thing I can say is that you don’t have to change your personality nor your likes and dislikes to become enough of a woman. I’m speaking from the perspective of a tomboy whose mother did a lot to try and change her into a girly girl through shaming and force. Being a woman is just being a person. Of course there is a practical, physical element to it, that I can’t really speak on as I haven’t been close to any male to female trans person, so that’ll be advice that more knowledgable people can share. But when it comes to the you inside, it transcends sex and gender and all that stuff. Personally, when I remove my physical form from who I am, I don’t see myself as neither woman nor man. I am just me. No matter how many times people like my mother found ways to shame me for how I appear or behave, I have never felt the need to commit to becoming a fake person who makes them more comfortable. I tend to spend time on people who accept me the way I am and the only change they want for me is the positive kind that will help me grow. I hope you will keep in mind that inside-you deserves to be recognized and appreciated for who she is. She doesn’t need to fit into some cookie cutter image of a woman. She doesn’t need the approval of shallow people with fake ideals. Good luck with your transition and future! I hope you have many sunny days ahead of you, friend.
