"Self-hosting OSes" are special operating systems like YunoHost, FreedomBox and LibreServer which are designed to make it easier to host your own services either on a VPS, or a computer in your own home or office. They include graphical interfaces that let you install or remove services without having to go through a command line. Does anyone know of any other distros (Linux or otherwise) designed specifically to make self-hosting much easier like this? #AskFedi #SelfHosting

@homegrown@social.growyourown.services I think ZimaOS would fit here: it's designed for a home NAS server rather than to be deployed on a VPS; It is fully graphical, managed through a hosted website, and can easily run things like immich, jellyfin or nextcloud out of the box, all set up through a web interface. I did hear from few of my less-technical friends that it was the least painless option they found recently, and I used it for a while as well before moving back to a plain Debian install which was better for my needs, as I didn't like a few of their forced-on-you decisions, and I think their core OS uses a bit too many resources that could be used by other apps. (It is also the successor of CasaOS which was an add-on to an existing linux, this is a full OS you need to install from the ground up) https://www.zimaspace.com/zimaos
