Main heating/cooling is by air source heat pump. The gas boiler is a legacy central heating system, used to make a tank of hot water (and as heating backup if required).
Best Beloved and I talked a lot about switching entirely to electricity for hot water. I need to explore the options available.
The cost might mean other projects may need to be postponed, though.

@snaptophobic@mastodon.me.uk An easy win is an electric shower. Cheap, efficient and always has hot water. There are equivalents for sinks and washbasins but still so obscure that they work out very expensive.
