Finally given up and accepted that I’m getting a smart meter installed as existing meter is now out of certification. Slightly annoyed that the planned replacement didn’t happen today but grateful that the octopus engineer called me early enough to say that he didn’t think he’d make it as the previous job had gone wrong and he was waiting for SGN, so not a complete surprise. We did get the cupboard of shame under the stairs where the meters are tidied so not a completely wasted day.
